dun dun dun.... weight loss!

So, so much has happened. John has gone back to work on the oil rig, Olivia is about to graduate from Pre-k, Gus' 2nd grade year is winding down at the charter school, I finally got an iPhone!!, and I have had a hysterectomy. Lots of life changes= ups and down with my weight. I'm an emotional eater, a celebratory eater, show you I love you eater, a bored eater... you get the point. My dad always showed people that he loved them by feeding them, and I do the *exact* same thing. (thanks, Dad!!) I go to my first Weight Watchers meeting this Thursday! So, armed with my hungry girl cookbooks, my iPhone and all of you fabulous people that support me... I'm off to make some good decisions today! Wish me luck!!

Pictures and Cubscouts

Gus Got his hair cut today. Tomorrow is Picture day at school. I love taking him to Milford's to get his hair cut. It's like a right of passage for boys in Nacogdoches. Gene (the owner) cut his hair today and I'm pretty sure he's been cutting hair the same way for around 50 years. (or longer) There is no talking really.. just every now and then he tickled Gus in the ribs with his finger or with the air gun. There's no wiggling in the chairs, there's no crying or fussing, there's no mom's in the barbers face's.... it's just little boys (and some men) getting their hair cut. It's magical. At the end, you hop out of the chair and he hands you a bucket full of suckers, you pick out the color you want, pay him his money and you leave. Daddy got his hair cut at Milford's and Gene cut his too. He said that the texture of their hair is different but shape of their heads are same. That's pretty cool..... I'm pretty sure you only get treatment like that at a place like Milford's.
Another little tidbit about our week.... Gus joined cub scouts this week. He is so excited! Mainly about the car he gets to build and about camping. I can't say that I'm super excited about our camping trip at the end of this month, but I won't tell Gus that!
It'll be Gus' first time to camp and mine too!! Any suggestions to a first-time camper????

My Unicorn

So.... a over a year ago I started a quilt that was really different for me. It is weird fabric with a funky layout. Anyway--- I would work on it and put it down, Get frustrated and put it down, Deal with kids and put it down... you get the picture.

Well, it ended up getting put up with all of my other unfinished projects. Pretty much forgotten about. A few months ago, Jenny came to town and she told me that we could do any little project I wanted. We worked on a table for Olivia's room and I got out that quilt. We laid it out and I got a little more frustrated. I told Jen that I would "work on it later". --yeah right---

Well... here we are months later and I finally got it back out and finished it!!

Thanks for your help Jenny and MoM!!!!!

****the picture is sideways, i'll post another later. My computer isn't cooperation right now!!

This is my first mobile post to my blog. Expect more to come!

Getting re-Aquainted

I'm starting a new blog. The other one wouldn't let me log in... I'm pretty sure it was user error. Doesn't matter, I can use this one just the same.

I'm going to start quilting again. In fact, I'm going to finish my crazy sideways quilt THIS WEEK!!!! Mom said she would help me.

Jenny's coming for a visit soon, and apparently we're going to be running. I've never been much of a runner. I never cared for it in school either. I don't mind walking fast, just not running. I walk my butt off at work so maybe running won't be that bad.

Work: busy. I always have a million things going on. Being a manager at Lowe's is very demanding. I never get a break before they pile more on my plate. If I don't delegate tasks correctly and make sure they get done, it comes back on me. If I don't keep everything ordered up and set correctly, it comes back on me. If I don't keep my paperwork done and turned in on time, it comes back on me. There's just a lot to do. It's hard to get used to it because there's always more they expect from me.
PS. I want an iphone.... REAL BAD!!!!
